Precious taking the English exam. She is in her last year of college and majoring in Elementary Ed.
We completed our English class at the CES in Daraga. We had a good time and enjoy the students that we were able to get to know. We started the same class in Naga at the CES last Thursday. There are 12 in the class. There are a couple that work at Sutherland Global Services a call outsourcing business here. They are taking the class because they want to learn to speak like an American. They are taking phone calls from the US and sometimes we have a hard time understanding them. As we get to the know the people working at these places we are gaining more empathy for them and the work they do. We are in the process of having a job fair with Sutherland Global. They are needing about 1000 employees to work the US tax season. We hope that some of our members who are in need of employment will take advantage of this opportunity.
Cristy pondering over the exam. She is a single mom of two girls. She has started her own business making scramble, an icy treat.
It's a little blurry but this is the Sutherland Global Services site at Pili and a testing room. There is a water park in the same area that we checked out after touring the call center.
This is Kit. He is 8. He enjoys playing the piano and he keeps me on my toes.
This is the instructor, Eleanor B. Tabliso from the Catanduanes State College Extension Service
Our Relief Society sponsored a self reliance training learning how to make flowers from Sinamay fabric. This is a fabric that is made from the abaca plant and they use the fibers in the leaves and on the trunk of the tree. The pictures above show the sisters making the flowers. They presented me with three of them. The next pictures are from the Pili Ward. We attended there today to give them information on the job fair. In the Relief Society room was a bouquet of flowers that Sister Laterro made at the training.
